Cranganore Inc announces the launch of new investment fund for offshore investors. The Plotinus 2 Pi Fund, sponsored by Plotinus Asset Management, uses artificial intelligence to manage an overlay on a broad index of US stocks. The product is designed for qualified institutions only.
“Index investing is the dominant approach to the US stock market at this time. Our client Plotinus Asset Management has developed a strategy using advanced technology to manage index volatility. There are limits to the application of past performance, but the results have been striking,” comments Douglas Johnson, Managing Director at Miami-based Cranganore Inc.
Plotinus Asset Management, a Cayman Islands-registered company, was founded in 2019, as a channel for offshore investors to benefit from the firm’s AI-centered research efforts. The company is affiliated with Plotinus Ltd, a Northern Ireland-based entity, which has engineered advanced algorithms since 2013. Over time, a limited-scale project to develop market trading signals has evolved into an internationally-focused asset-management company.
CJ Finnegan, founder of Plotinus, offers insight on the product roll-out: “Launching an investment fund is challenging during a pandemic. But our ability to exploit the broad US market index is highly-relevant for those global investors who may be looking for next-generation approaches to portfolio management.”
Charter investors in the fund include the company’s shareholders. Finnegan notes, “Our backers have been stalwart in their support of our efforts, putting their own cash to work as we introduce our one-of-a-kind investment fund worldwide.”
Cranganore’s role in the product-launch cycle has been centered on brand positioning and relationship management. The firm has heritage in working with new-to-market investment managers to develop their institutional platform. ■
Plotinus Asset Management is regulated by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority. Its suite of AI-based products is being designed primarily for institutional investors who are eligible to invest in offshore funds. The firm is registered with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission and is a member the US National Futures Association.
